Handmade masterpieces by craftsmen.
This basket is handmade by Mr. Hatada who cuts bamboo from the mountains in Gamagori, Aichi Prefecture and weaves various baskets.
The baskets, which are carefully woven from flat bamboo strips, which are thin but strong and durable, bring out the colors and warmth that nature has nurtured and give a soothing effect to the space. .
"Yotsume weaving" is a technique in which bamboo strips of the same thickness are diagonally crossed to create a square weave, and is often used to weave baskets and bags. Yotsume weaving is said to be called differently depending on the size of the stitches.
Taking advantage of the color of green bamboo, it is woven in a two-tone color, with green on the outside and white on the inside. Brown strips of bamboo are used for the handle, giving it an eye-catching accent.
It is a bamboo basket that is beautiful when viewed from a distance, and whose texture and construction can be enjoyed even when viewed up close.
